While being in Abyek city we met a man from a nearby gypsy village. He showed us a place that you won’t find in any guidebook but in our opinion it deserves attention. The village that we mention is Roma village that vanishes from the earth. We were thinking how long remnants of clay-straw houses will be visible. The legend says that gypsy treasures are hidden there. Absolutely no one takes care of it… The situation of Romanies in every country is not in the interest of governments, so does the situation of this village. I do not think that any of archeologist has been there! This vanishing settlement is situated in the middle of the field where no bus is coming. I suppose that only locals living around know about its existence. Local Romanies want to change that and they do all they can to make their few hundreds years history in Iran more popular. During our visit, first discussions to help this project with Iranian cultural organization were done. Being a small part of it was an interesting experience for us. We were really impressed by its view and history of total neglecting.
